Parents don’t be tempted to use at-home kits! At-home drug-testing kits sold on the Internet or other do-it-yourself solutions are not the best way to determine if an adolescent has been abusing drugs or alcohol. Knowing how to collect a urine or hair sample for testing, and understand the limits of test results, according to a new study released in the April 2004 issue of Pediatrics can be very difficult. It is important that parents be confident in their findings, and don’t wrongfully accuse or acquit their child of harmful or potentially fatal behavior. Parents using at-home kits may find themselves falsely reassured by a false negative, or inaccurately accusing their child of substance abuse because of a false positive. Don’t let this happen to you and your family. Contact Chapman House and we will make sure your results are accurate and reliable.
